Bacon Cheese Fries make for a deliciously yummy finger licking good snack or appetizer.

These cheese fries are packed with flavor. They are topped with pepper jack cheese and including both sharp cheddar and orange cheddar cheese. And not to for get the flavor of hickory smoked bacon and green onions.

As good as French fries are on their own, these cheese fries are virtually irresistible once you add the trifecta of cheese, bacon, and green onions. It’s almost like eating a loaded baked potato.



There easy to make. Just get yourself a pound of frozen fries from your favorite market. Bake them for 18 minutes on 400 degrees or according to packaged instructions.

Next gave yourself ready some cooked crumbled bacon, shredded cheese and chopped scallions or green onions.

Topped the baked fries with your prepared ingredients and place them back in the oven under broiler on low until cheese is melted. It’s that easy.



Cheese Fries History

Not much is known about the history of cheese fries, though it is debated that cheese fries originated in the United States.

Cheese fries gained popularity after 1952, when canned cheese products like Cheez Whiz became available in the United States.

What is known, however, is that this comforting side dish is on the menu at numerous restaurants and fast food joints across the country.

The story goes though, that Austin Ruse was the first person to serve cheese fries with chili during his time as a fry cook at the Dairy Queen in St. Charles, Missouri.

Bacon Cheese Fries

1 pound bag frozen French fries

7 stripes smoked bacon, cooked and crumbled

6 scallions or green onions, chopped

1 cup shredded mixed cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Spread frozen fries evenly over foil. Place in heat oven and bake for 18 minutes or according to packaged instructions.

Place cooked crumbled bacon, shredded cheese and chopped onions in a medium bowl. With clean hands, mix ingredients until well incorporated. Set aside.

Remove baked fries. Turn oven off and turn broiler on low with top rack 6 inches from heating source.



Top baked fries evenly with mixed ingredients from medium bowl.

Place baking sheet back into oven under broil set on low and allow cheese to melt, about 10 minutes.



Plate your Bacon Cheese Fries as a appetizer, snack or main course. Top with your favor sauce. Such as ketchup, ranch dressing, salsa or sour cream.
