Barbecued Baked Beans

When it comes to barbecued baked beans everyone will say they have the best recipe.

While there are several versions and techniques to preparing baked beans, one thing is for sure, it’s not a real barbecue until a dish of baked beans shows up.

Baked beans can come in a variety of flavors, including sweet, salty, savory, and spicy.

We can all agree, they are the tastiest and most satisfying side dish served alongside a plate of beef, chicken, or pork.

Barbecued Baked Beans

1 15 ounce can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 15 ounce can pinto beans, drained and rinsed

1 15 ounce kidney (red) beans, drained and rinsed

10 slices half cooked smoked bacon, chopped in ¼ inch pieces

1 1/2 – 2 cups barbecue sauce, your choice

Or Try These Options

The pumpkin chipotle roasting sauce can also substitute for a bbq sauce. It is made with apple cider vinegar, sweet molasses, pumpkin, sweet spices and chipotle sauce.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.

Cut bacon strips into 1/4 inch pieces. Warm a medium skillet over medium-high heat and add bacon pieces.

Sauté the bacon until it is partially or halved cooked. Drain partially cooked bacon on a paper towel.

Place beans in a large Dutch oven-proof pot. Add bacon, beans, and your choice of sauce.

Place a lid on the pot and put into a preheated oven for 1 hour or until bacon is fully cooked.
