South African Yellow Rice

South African Yellow Rice, also known as Geelrys, is a popular dish in South African cuisine.

This dish has its roots in Cape Malay cuisine, which combines traditional South African and Southeast Asian influences.

The dish gets its vibrant yellow color from the use of turmeric, which adds a distinct earthy and slightly floral flavor.

Other common ingredients include raisins, sugar, and cinnamon, which give the rice a hint of sweetness.

It is a staple in many South African households that is typically served alongside curries or stews and is often served at special occasions and celebrations.

South African Yellow Rice is a true representation of the diverse and flavorful cuisine of South Africa.
